Every business has a story on how they came to be what they are today, where they started and what they have done throughout the years. Our story started a few years back in 2014 when Alberto and Rebecca decided to sell their home bakes and catering events.
Never in a millions years would we have imagined that this would one day be a reality! In 2015 a seed of an idea was born, we then spent the next 5 years refining it, in collaboration with our supporters from the start our customers and friends. East Village, the heart of the 2012 Olympic village on the door step of the Glorious Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Who knew that 2020 would help people connect with their local area and community and help us morph into what we were striving to become, a pillar of our community. This large pedestrian area in East London is a little oasis populated by inspired talented artisans and independent businesses. Just like we are used to finding in Italy but it’s London!
On a sunny day in August 2015, with only one team member, a passionate barista, to assist them, Rebecca and Alberto opened the first branch of Signorelli bakery. Our dream was to sell Italian inspired artisan bread and baked goods bringing a modern twist on the traditional Italian pasticceria. So overwhelming was the opening, to meet the initial demand, friends, family and newly met customers all rolled up their sleeves to help until we had the funds and the time to hire more staff. After a rollercoaster start, and with incredible community support, we learned, improved and over time Signorelli began to leave its mark. In time Signorelli was ready to expand and consolidate its catering arm. |
The start of 2019 was hectic for us to say the least; with opening our new bakery in the International Quarter (IQL) in Stratford, growing our loving team, getting new customers and learning about their likes and dislikes, let's just say we had a lot of things happening at once. It took us just a few days to get used to our new space and turn it into, what is now, our cake studio. Our IQL bakery morphs throughout the day from breakfast to lunch, through coffee breaks and finishing the day with aperitivo with wine, beers and sweet & fun cocktails. All while being able to watch our talented team of pastry chefs make some incredible creations through the windows.

Along with expansion came a baby, loved and embraced by the community and our team.
Today we call E20 our home and that of all our team. Our customers and our team are the beating heart of our business. We continue to challenge our team culture of inclusivity, our impact on our local community and our planet. We strive to make as positive an impact as we can on the world around us all while filling your tummies with delicious hand made bakes! With our two bakery cafe branches, a catering and delivery business we look to the future with excitement! |
